Pin It now!
Growing up my sister had the most hideous noisy looking thing that I just found myself always playing with, the typewriter. I pretended that I was a super busy secretary. I was so obsessed with that typewriter, and it drove my sister crazy because I used up all her ribbon. When she would go to use it there would be no more ink. This was long before computers were around and we had awesome at home ink jet printers that make our lives now so much easier. Then why is that I am once again obsessed with old school typewriters and their cool looking bulky heavy storage cases. I am in love with how great it looks on some awesome paper (not just a craft whore, but also a paper whore)!
When I told my sister I wanted to invest in one she laughed she said why would you want one and then goes on to say well I actually do have one. My heart stopped and I went crazy. How did she not tell me before, where has she been hiding it I haven’t seen it in her office. And then the words come out all in slow motion, I just bought it at Best Buy. WHAT?!!?! That’s no typewriter, that’s a modern wanna be typewriter..that’s Wack! That doesn not count, its not loud, its not turquoise and its doesn’t have a 36 pound carrying case. Its white, small, light and it plugs into an electrical receptacle, soooo not my typewriter.
I know people buy them and restore them and sell them for $14674994.99, or some just have them as a vintage decoration piece in their trendy looking home. Wiggity wack! I want a funky teal looking type writer that works and won’t cost me an arm and half my leg. Why not just get the cool font that looks like typewriter, you may be thinking? Easy..ITS NOT THE SAME! I want to have that noisy hideous thing that my sister once had.
Etsy has some amazing typewrite finds but they want to charge just as much for the shipping as they do for the actual machine, but I shouldn’t complain I have been talking about how big and heavy they are. And it has to ship to me somehow. Off in search of my dream typewriter, til next time!
