Pin It now!
Who would guess that as early as two weeks ago we were having rain storms. Now here we are one day passed the "longest day of the year" and its finally starting to feel like its summer. I felt like I was melting the second I stepped foot outside. I would rather feel like I am melting than to deal with having to carry a coat and umbrella in June. Thank you Mother Nature for finally letting the heat arrive. I was walking into the gym and I already felt like I had worked out for an hour my shirt was drenched ewwwwwwwwwwwww...
Aside from the heat bringing out summer dresses and cute sandals it also takes me back to my childhood memories, I just had a long phone call with P&P about our AWESOME summers together. We have so many great memories I really wish we can go back in time and relive them all! And its great because she fills me in on details that I may have forgot and then I can fill her in on things she may have forgot, we're pretty awesome like that. We could so write a book about our crazy filled summers, we're cousins but our relationship was more on a sister level we loved each other and had fun but too much of each other would make us fight, a true love/hate sisterly relationship.
We have many many memories as I mentioned and I am sure we will share lots but for today I will start with a "chicken fights at the pool"..
P&P lived in a neighborhood that I swear to you must have had a prerequisite that you had to have kids in order to buy a house there. I remember being so jealous that she had so many kids our age living there and that someone was always outside playing. And there were BOYS, lots of them, cute ones, ones that we would get all googly eyed for. I was always such a great time.
Now, we come from Latino families so you know how we do it..have large families and get together every weekend for no reason at all other than just together and hang out. So when my mom would tell me we're going to your Tio Memo's house today oh man I would be so anxious to hurry and get over there.
The adults would hang out and all us kids would get together with the neighborhood posse and play outside or go to the pool. Oh man how we had good times at that pool. I can close my eyes right now and fully describe to you what that pool looked like. I can smell the chlorine now!
P&P's mom was a little on the tough side so when I would come to spend the night there we would have to do a million and one things before we were able to go down to the pool. But once we got down to the pool man let me tell you it was ON! We always found ourselves doing chicken fights with the guys. As I mentioned there were some fellas out there that we had our eyes on so when I came down to chicken fight and we got to jump on top of them to get our chicken fight on oh man it was like heaven, the butterflies fluttering was in full effect. It was all innocent and in the name of fun. But now as a mom if I were to see my daughter doing that I would flip out, there is no way that I would even think of letting her go down to the pool and chicken fight with the boys there is no way that I would let that happen. Its funny because even now as an adult anytime we are in the pool and I see kids chicken fighting it always takes me back to our pool memories with P&P.
How I wish we had pictures to go with each of our memories, Thank P&P for all the cool memories!

If I could go back into time, I would. Our summers totally rocked and our family "Fiestas" where pretty awesome too! Remember Leon's baptism? We had a mariachi band there. LOL! I wonder how bad our neighbors hates us?! ha-ha!
